Since the rise of information age and globalisation, humans have been seeking more social connectivity and interaction between each other. The street ideals of cities are now gradually transforming into a more public domain, becoming less automobile-oriented. Responding to this transformation, the Chataround questions and challenges the form and functionality
of conventional street objects, such as bench, that people use every day. Its intent, given its well thought-out form, is

to encourage conversations between users; something a “traditional” bench is lacking as users tend to sit apart from each other, facing the same direction. Its idea was based on a simple round stool typical to social places like bars.
